Partial Work History
 
Following his ordination, he began his career first as an English instructor at Saint John's University and prefect in Saint Anselm's Hall (1961-62). Timothy then spent a year in our monastery foundation in Mexico where he taught theology at Colegio del Tepeyac (1962-63), followed by a year at our foundation in the Bahamas at Saint Augustine's College where he taught English. During the summer months, he attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota. In 1964 Timothy was assigned as associate pastor at Saint Anselm's Church in the Bronx, New York (1964-70), and then became pastor of the parish until 1972. Returning to Minnesota, he was appointed chaplain for the Benedictine sisters at Mount Saint Benedict Monastery in Crookston (1972-78).
 

 
Allegations of Abuse and/or Misconduct
 
The lawsuit identifies Abbot Timothy Kelly, founder of the Interfaith Sexual Trauma Institute at St. John's and a leading advocate for confronting the clergy abuse crisis, as the perpetrator of sexual assaults against Plaintiff John Doe in 1966 and 1967 then Father Timothy Kelly was an associate pastor at St. Anselm’s church in Bronx, New York. Abbot Kelly is now deceased.

Abbot Timothy Kelly OSB celebrates fifty years of monastic profession. Abbot Timothy was born on April 30, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and professed first vows on July 11, 1955. Abbot Timothy was the ninth abbot of Saint John's from 1992 until 2000. Since June 22, 2001, he serves as the President of the American-Cassinese Congregation, a federation of twenty Benedictine monasteries. (2005)
