In 1992, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.behindthepinecurtain.com\/wordpress\/1992-accusation-against-father-brennan-maiers\/\">the abbey settled with one of Maiers&#8217; victims<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His victims would likely disagree with this line of his <a href=\"https:\/\/saintjohnsabbey.org\/father-brennan-maiers-osb\">obituary<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">&#8220;Father Brennan was a gentle man of compassion and pastoral alertness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Maiers&#8217; 2003 External Review Board Biography&#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.behindthepinecurtain.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/2003-Abbots-File-Maiers.pdf\">2003 Abbots File Maiers<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">According to the Abbey:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">April 27, 1936<br \/>\nProfessed: July 11, 1957<br \/>\nOrdained June 1, 1963<br \/>\nDied July 22, 2022<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Father Brennan died on 22 July in the retirement center at Saint John\u2019s Abbey. He is survived by Sisters Grace Marie and Gen Maiers OSB, Saint Benedict\u2019s Monastery, Saint Joseph; Theresa Kuttner, Stewart; Allan Maiers, Hutchinson; and the community of Saint John\u2019s Abbey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The monks, family, and friends will receive the body on Wednesday, 27 July at 7:00 p.m. and celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial for Father Brennan at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, 28 July, in Saint John\u2019s Abbey and University Church, with interment in the abbey cemetery.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/saintjohnsabbey.org\/father-brennan-maiers-osb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read the Obituary Here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Father Brennan Maiers was inappropriate with at least six individuals, the youngest victim was believed to be eleven years old.
