On December 9, 2013, Saint John’s Abbey released the names of eighteen\u00a0current and former monks who “likely have offended against minors” [ View<\/a> ]. The abbey’s list\u00a0includes nine monks who currently live at the Benedictine monastery in Collegeville, Minnesota.

At least two the offenders on the abbey’s new list have denied the allegations in the past. Some of the offenders [\u00a0View<\/a>\u00a0]\u00a0are still in treatment. Despite this denial and ongoing treatment, Abbot John Klassen recently claimed that all nine of the child-abusing monks living in Collegeville “are considered to be in the lowest category for risk to reoffend”\u00a0[\u00a0View<\/a>\u00a0].<\/p>\n
