Settlement Will Name Priests

(StarTribune) A legal settlement is being announced Monday in St. Paul by several people who contend they were victims of sexual abuse by Roman Catholic clergy.

The nine plaintiffs and their St. Paul attorney, Jeff Anderson, will reveal settlement of their lawsuits brought against the Order of St. Benedict, based in Collegeville, Minn., St. John’s Preparatory School, St, John’s Abbey and 11 clergy.

“The settlement includes several non-monetary child-protection disclosure issues that are of major importance,” Anderson’s law firm said in a statement, “including names of previously undisclosed predator priests.”

For the past 27 years, Anderson has taken on thousands of clergy sex abuse cases in the United States and is also pursuing cases in Europe.

Anderson has filed lawsuits in recent years against the Vatican, accusing Catholic leaders of fraud and not doing enough to stop clergy sex abuse in its ranks.
